Why do we get hooked on certain sayings?

With the change of the month, I have heard all types of weather-related sayings – March goes in like and lion and out like a lamb; April showers bring May flowers, and so on. These expressions and others are classified as weather lore, a body of informal folklore related to the prediction of the weather. And, what I find so interesting is that many people will predict the weather and how their day may go based on how they feel upon getting out of bed – an achy back, sore knee, tight shoulder, etc.

Whether it is the farmer’s almanac or anatomy, the fact is that how we feel, and the weather may have a connection. Putting my best foot forward and a positive attitude, I am predictable and consistent in my morning routine so that however the wind may blow, I am ready.

I start each day with a basic and very important wake-up routine which begins with my feet. Our feet are the foundation on which we stand and by simply opening-up our feet we literally plug-in our bodies. The practice of rolling, which is a core part of my daily routine and instruction, allow the nerve endings to spark and ignite us to feel the inner core awakening and aligning for better mobility and stability. Incorporating something as simple as stretching your toes, rolling your feet and pulling the skin on your ankles will release tightness in your back, move your shoulders out of your ears and help you to stand up taller.
